Haiti is a country located in the Antillean area, occupying the western third of the island of Hispaniola (approximately 27,750 km2), next to Dominican Republic. Its capital is Port-au-Prince and its highest point is La "Selle" (2,680 meters above sea level). one of the biggest Island in the Caribbean, with a population of more than 10 million, Haiti is


















The defeat of the army of Napoleon Bonaparte during the battle of "Vertières" in 1803 is at the origin of the creation of the republic of Haiti, (in Haitian Creole : Repiblik Ayiti) which became in January 1st 1804, the first independent black republic in the world. Haiti is also the only independent French-speaking Caribbean territory.

Haiti in the 50's was known as the Antillean pearl, After 1986 the country is devastated by unstable political situation.

Like any other country in the Caribbean area , Haiti know some tragedies moments with natural disasters. In the 12th January 2010 haiti was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 7,3 on the Richter scale . Almost 300,000 people died.


More recently, Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti on 3 October 2016, causing catastrophic flooding and killing nearly 600 people.


In 2018, yet another earthquake of the magnitude of 5.9 hit Haiti on 6 October killing 12 people.


All this unfortunate situation create an unstable economy for Haiti.
